The Beauty in Breaking
Lately, it seems as if things in my world have been quite literally shattering. First, an antique state fair glass from 1900 and a Venetian glass from my travels fell when a shelf bracket unexpectedly broke. Then, someone sideswiped my car. Next came my favorite t-shirt, ruined by a forgotten Chapstick in the wash. And finally, a handblown glass lampshade I had made myself broke when my husband accidentally bumped it.
I don’t believe in coincidences—patterns like these feel like invitations from the universe to pause, reflect, and open to change. Something is shifting, and I can feel it. For now, my practice is to breathe, soften into openness, and trust what wants to arrive next. It’s also been a practice in trusting that the universe not only has my back, but is present in every moment of my life. Meeting each circumstance with understanding and love has felt expansive—and even liberating. And through it all, knowing these are just things has shifted from being an idea in my mind to a truth I feel in my body.
✨ Reflection: Where in your own life are things “breaking open” to make space for something new? And where is the universe inviting you to move from knowing something in your mind to fully embodying it in your life?
