Our outward-facing five senses keep us busy most of the time, actively consumed with gathering data that our mind, our sixth sense, happily conceptualizes, categorizes, links and stores away. But there is a latent sense that we are not as familiar with – the heart sense. The heart is like a great sage: it knows the right action in any situation, it speaks sparingly and softly, each word infused with great wisdom. When we learn to connect to it, on and off the mat, we find contentment, connection, and wisdom; we find ourselves.
As Albert Einstein wrote to his daughter, “There is an extremely powerful force that, so far, science has not found a formal explanation to. It is a force that includes and governs all others, and is even behind any phenomenon operating in the universe and has not yet been identified by us. This universal force is LOVE.”
Join me as we use the practices of yoga (slow flow & yin) and yoga nidra to locate the heart sense, to cultivate our ability to have it continuously online and to hear it on and off the mat. Ultimately, we will find that it is everything that we are, the underlying fabric to all that is.
