Your body reveals what your mind may not yet know.
You might not think you’re upset or anxious, but your body may be telling a different story.
Our sensations often betray the emotions we haven’t yet named. That tightness in your chest, the flutter in your belly, the tension in your shoulders… these are messengers, not mistakes.
So, how do we meet these emotions in a way that soothes rather than stirs?
A key insight is this: approach emotions as sensations, not thoughts. Rather than spiraling in the mind, turn toward the body.
Start simply. Pause. Breathe.
Then gently let the sensation know: “I see you. I’m willing to feel you.”
Sit beside it with your awareness and your breath.
Where does it live in your body?
What does it feel like—sharp, dull, warm, prickly?
Does it move? Does it have something to share?
Don’t rush. Don’t analyze. Just be with it.
Compassionate presence is often the balm our nervous system needs most. The deepest healing happens in the energetic body, and from there, the mind will follow. When we allow space for the energy to move, clarity and peace often arise without needing to be “figured out.”
