Meeting Yourself with Grace

Meeting Yourself with Grace

Do you ever notice yourself reacting to something—and then immediately judging yourself for it? Maybe thinking, “I should be past this old emotion by now” or “I should be able to handle this without anxiety.” If so, you’re not alone—I’m right there with you.

But here’s the bright side: reactions happen, and noticing them is where your power begins.

Even with all the mindfulness tools in the world, sometimes we’re just going to react. And that’s okay. Here are a few things I’ve found helpful:

Stop the judgment. When you judge your reaction, it’s a double whammy: the challenge itself and your criticism of how you’re handling it.

Give yourself grace. Instead of analyzing why you’re reacting, try meeting it with curiosity. Let it simply be.

Check the situation. Is this something you really need to keep engaging in? Maybe it’s time to set a boundary or step away from the environment that triggers it.

Seek support. Sometimes we need the perspective and care of others to help us move through what feels heavy.

✨ Remember: being human means we will react—but how we meet ourselves in those moments makes all the difference. Noticing the reaction is powerful—it shows you are not the reaction, but a whole, timeless soul.
